Pope Francis the second has had many positively perceived actions and is generally regarded as a noble man. To apologise for the mistreatment of indigenous Canadians, the Pope has decided to undertake a formal apology tour of Canada.

From the white colonisation of Canada up until the late 20th century, many programs and laws were active to repress and eradicate indigenous culture and practices. The Roman Catholic church played a large part in this process, particularly for their role in residential schooling where many indigenous children were abused.

Pope Francis seemingly does not agree with what took place, such is the reasoning for his apology, and believes that apologising on the indigenous Canadians home soil will be more meaningful. Some believe, however, that an apology is not enough, and financial reparations should be compensated.

Although an apology will not heal the pain caused by the Roman Catholic church, many would say it is undoubtably good deed.
